How to choose the right bulk bag for your business!

Jumbo bags (also known as big bags, super sacks, bulk bags, FIBC) are large bags made from woven polypropylene (PP) fabric used to store and transport materials with loading weight from 500kg - 2500kg.

FIBC bags are now more and more widely used in many large manufacturers in different fields such as industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, ....

Despite of that, not many people understand the criteria to choose reasonable price jumbo bags which fully meet the requirements. EPP would like to give customers some basic information when choosing jumbo bags:

1. CHARACTERISTIC OF PRODUCTS

You should clearly identify the product in the big bag in the form of blocks, pellets, granules or fine or ultrafine powder. Does the product have many angles? Does the product need to be breathable or waterproof and moisture-proof?

If the material properties are determined, bulk bag manufacturers can choose the type of PP fabric to use to make the bags with a quantity of gr/m2, coated or uncoated. This factor determines over 50% of the cost and over 80% of the safety.

2. WEIGHT OF GOODS

The products’ weight will be extremely important criteria to calculate fabric weight, size of FIBC and loops. An optimal jumbo bag must ensure the expected loading capacity, fabric weight and loop tensible strength. This also helps you get better price when purchasing FIBCs.

3. METHOD OF FILLING AND DISCHARGING

The way of loading and unloading bulk bags will determine the top and the bottom of jumbo bags.

The suitable design of top and bottom in accordance with the method and device helps the filling and discharging process quickly and easily.

4. MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION

Case 1: You use jumbo bags to store raw materials for internal service in the factory. Your means of transporting jumbo bags is a forklift or a crane. This information will help your 1-ton PP woven bag have the most suitable and secure loops.

Case 2: You use jumbo bags to transport goods on the road or for export purpose. The size of container and truck is necessary information to decide the suitable bag’s size for means of transport.

5. SINGLE TRIP AND MULTI TRIP BULK BAG

Normally, jumbo bags will fall into one of the following cases:

Case 1: The jumbo bag is used for packing – storing – transporting to the place of consumption – taking the goods out of the bag. This is called a usage cycle. If the bag only uses one cycle as above, just ensure the safety factor 5:1.

Case 2: After the cycle as in case 1, if you need to reuse FIBC, the safty factor of bulk bags must be 6:1. This means that the bag will have more reinforcement to ensure safety, durability. However, the price will be higher in comparision with the other FIBCs.
